JOB PURPOSE
The Visiting Program Administrator Health and Community Wellness serves as a full-time12-month academic professional and has the primary responsibility for providingoversight leadership and supervision for grant projects and specialinitiatives within the Center for Food Systems Nutrition Security and HealthIntegration and the broader Health and Community Wellness team at theUniversity of Illinois Extension. This includes providing guidance supportand direction to staff hired as part of Extension grants and specialinitiatives related to planning and implementation of statewide and regionalprograms and serving as a positive representative for the Center withExtension staff key stakeholders and partners to facilitate programobjectives.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in public administration public health community health family and consumer science nutrition human development or related field. Candidates with a bachelors degree in progress may be considered for interviews but degree must be completed by hire date.
  • Two (2) years of experience facilitating and guiding the work of teams.
  • Experience meeting project goals and deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in a related field.
  • Experience with University of Illinois Extension.
  • Experience in direct supervision.
  • Experience supporting a remote workforce.
  • Valid drivers license.

SPECIFICJOB INFORMATION:
Two full-time positions are available.
Location: state hybrid remote work arrangements are available
This isa security-sensitive position. Comprehensive background checks including but not limited to a criminalconviction information check a CANTS check and a review of the Registered SexOffender list will be conducted.

EXAMPLES OF THE WORK

  • Oversee and lead the implementation programs.
  • Supervise and mentor team members for effective program delivery.
  • Build relationships with community organizations and agencies.
  • Assist in developing and managing program budgets.
  • Collect program data and prepare reports for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on designing effective nutrition education curricula.
  • Implement strategies to raise awareness of programs.
  • Identify funding opportunities and assist with grant proposals.
  • Integrate best practices in nutrition education and community engagement.
  • Functions and teaching roles when appropriate.
  • Guide all program expansion and program quality processes.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Oversight Leadership and Direction

  • Provide Oversee Center related grant programming to ensure programming meets the goals and objectives as outlined in the grant plans or plans of work.
  • Actively recruit and hire staff to fill vacancies in coordination with Center leadership.
  • Monitor staff program delivery to support program outreach efforts and deliverables.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to staff on performance improvement. This may include going to programming sites and modeling improvement practices for outreach and engagement to partners and participants.
  • Participate in and reinforce content from staff trainings.
  • Establish feedback mechanisms to gather perspectives advice and recommendations related to all aspects of the grant projects or special initiatives. Use information to implement any necessary changes to current programming.
  • Provide leadership and assist with marketing Extension outreach efforts and programming to targeted populations organizations and agencies to grow and expand programming efforts.
  • Assist staff with gathering program participant demographic information to ensure compliance with civil rights reporting requirements.
  • Work with the Center and HCW Leadership team to ensure optimal onboarding programming and program support.

Supervision

  • Provides supervision of all assigned staff in adherence to University of Illinois Extension/ACES guidelines.
  • Provide leadership in coordinating the logistics and activities for program tasks. i.e. travel equipment and supplies.
  • Meet with the team and individual staff on a regular basis to provide guidance on performance and program implementation.
  • Review and approve staff work hours and calendars.
  • Monitor and approve program expenses in keeping with the grant and Extension budget guidelines.

Other Information

  • Comply with all reporting deadlines and requirements (e.g. plans-of-work activity and impact reporting etc.).
  • Perform other duties that contribute to the mission of University of Illinois Extension programming as assigned.
  • Local regional statewide and (limited) interstate travel required.
  • When working the employee may be exposed to a variety of environmental factors to include but not limited to hot or cold weather exposure to noise and allergens and uneven ground. In performing the functions of this position the employee may be subjected to various physical demands including ability to move transfer and/or transport items that may occasionally weigh up to forty (40) pounds and frequently weigh up to twenty (20) pounds and twisting pushing and pulling movements.
  • To perform the functions of this position the employee will be required to perform work both within an office and outside in the communities that are served and must have the capability to travel from one location to the other in a timely fashion. Employee is responsible for securing personal transportation. Some work will be required during evenings and/or weekends.

AppointmentInformation
These positions arenot eligible for any type of sponsorship for work authorization. Thesepositions are a full-time benefits-eligible non-tenure academic professionalpositions appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is assoon as possible after the closing date. The previously determined salary range for this position was$58000 to $73000. We strive to provide a competitive salary while taking intoconsideration internal equity candidate experience and qualifications as wellas budget constraints. The final salary offer will be determined through acalculation involving these elements. It is not typical for an individual to beoffered a salary at the top of the full range for this position.
