Job Description:

The Department of Languages Literatures and Cultures at the University at Albany ( State University of New York seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor in Hispanic Linguistics for one year to begin in Fall 2025 teaching 3/3. PhD in Hispanic linguistics in hand by August 15 2025. Primary areas of specialization are Spanish for the professions and second/ heritage language acquisition. Preference will be given to candidates that better complement existing strengths in the program. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated evidence of high-quality research and teaching. Native or near native fluency in Spanish and English are required.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized organization by 9/1/2025. Candidates who will not hold the degree by this date will not be considered.
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
  • Applicants must demonstrate an ability to support diversity equity access inclusion and belonging relative to their role.
  • Native or native-like competence in Spanish and English.
  • at least three years of experience teaching Spanish and Spanish linguistics classes at the collegiate level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching Spanish for the health professions and Business and legal Spanish.

Professional Rank and Salary Range:Visiting Assistant Professor (10 Month) $50000.
