Job Summary
More Than Caregiving
Our Day Program DSPs do much more than provide traditional caregiving support. They coach teach mentor and engage adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout the day.
You may lead activities involving art music games cooking reading life skills community outings volunteering and other enrichment opportunities. The goal is to help each person build skills increase independence participate in their community and have meaningful experiences.
You will also provide hands-on personal care behavioral support and assistance based on each individuals needs.
What Youll Do
- Coach and mentor adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Lead activities workshops and life enrichment opportunities
- Teach daily living skills such as cooking money management communication and community participation
- Encourage independence choice confidence and active participation
- Lead community outings and volunteering opportunities
- Provide personal care and hygiene assistance
- Support individuals who may experience challenging behaviors
- Use positive behavioral support and redirection techniques
- Assist with lifting and transfers when needed
- Complete accurate daily electronic documentation
- Help with cooking cleaning and preparing program spaces
- Work closely with your team to maintain a positive safe and engaging environment
Qualifications :
Who Were Looking For
This is an active hands-on position and we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with and engaging others.
To be considered you must have:
- 6 months of experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid drivers license and ability to drive a company van
- Ability to work Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
- Ability to lift and transfer up to 50 pounds
- Must be 21 years of age
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn electronic documentation systems
- Comfort providing personal care and behavioral support
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Candidates should be patient dependable adaptable professional and comfortable taking initiative in a busy Day Program environment.
