Job Summary

Were looking for a skilled creative visual storyteller to join our team as a Video Producer. You will translate complex scientific and technical information into engaging educational and visually compelling video packages. As a member of the Office of Strategic Communications within the Directors Office you will lead all aspects of video production from initial concept development storyboarding and scriptwriting to videography interviewing editing and other post-production work.

This position will be filled at either the G03.2 or G03.3 level based on knowledge and related experience as assessed by the hiring team.

This position offers a hybrid schedule blending in-person and virtual presence. You will have the flexibility to work from home one or more days per week.

You will

  • Create short- medium- and long-form video packages using advanced video production tools and industry-standard best practices.
  • Partner with colleagues in the Office of Strategic Communications and the Directors Office to develop video campaigns supporting Director and executive communications.
  • Partner with Office of Strategic Communications colleagues to develop video packages that complement external news releases social media content internal communications efforts such as Lab-wide all-hands meetings and event coverage.
  • Source and pitch compelling story ideas for video concepts by developing effective working relationships with the Laboratorys broad and diverse programs and organizations.
  • Research and write professional-quality factually accurate scripts and storyboards that explain science and technology concepts to the public in standard journalistic style.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities at the G03.3 level

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert to colleagues in the Office of Strategic Communications and throughout the Laboratory.
  • Create and implement Lab-wide video visual identity standards and standardized processes for requesting video support.
  • Assume ownership of complex video projects with multiple and competing deadlines and guide them through successful completion.
  • Plan long-term video projects and campaigns that align with Office of Strategic Communications and Laboratory strategic communication goals.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in film production English journalism communications or related field or equivalent level of progressive competence gained through a combination of work-related experience education and training.
  • Demonstrated skill in video production tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro and other Creative Cloud tools.
  • Proficient in videography audio recording and lighting.
  • Strong storytelling ability with preferred experience developing scripts storyboards production plans and translating complex topics.
  • Experience planning and producing video packages on a variety of topics including technically oriented topics. Experience developing science communication content is preferred.
  • Experience meeting deadlines while handling multiple assignments stakeholders timelines and review cycles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a creative team and as a self-sufficient individual contributor.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a commitment to quality and excellence.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy to effectively interact with all levels of LLNL partner organizations and the general public.

Additional qualifications at G03.3 level

  • Demonstrated experience in project management and directing the efforts of others including managing timelines budgets workflow processes stakeholder management and review processes.
  • Advanced knowledge and expertise in complex video production concepts methods and techniques.

Qualifications We Desire

  • Experience with social media management including content scheduling platforms current trends and back-end analytics tools.
  • Experience working in a science engineering technology or national security environment.
  • Experience working with or interacting with a national lab the Department of Energy the National Nuclear Security Administration or other U.S. government agencies.

Pay Range

$95820 - $117312 Annually for the G03.2 level

$114900 - $140712 Annually for the G03.3 level

This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting; pay will not be below any applicable local minimum wage.  An employees position within the salary range will be based on several factors including but not limited to specific competencies relevant education qualifications certifications experience skills seniority geographic location performance and business or organizational needs.
