Job Summary

The VFD Technician/Electrician will be responsible for the installation troubleshooting repair and maintenance of Variable Frequency Drives across a range of building systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with ABB and Yaskawa VFDs and be capable of supporting both new installations and maintenance of existing systems.


Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot diagnose and repair issues related to VFDs used in various facility systems including:

    • Air Handling Units (AHUs)

    • Pumps

    • Exhaust Fans

  • Install and commission new VFDs as needed.

  • Work primarily with ABB and Yaskawa VFDs; experience with other brands is a plus but not required.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

  • Perform preventive maintenance on existing VFD installations.

  • Collaborate with facility and maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve system efficiency.

  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety protocols and electrical codes.


Qualifications
  • Proven hands-on experience (35 years preferred) with installation and servicing of VFDs.

  • Strong knowledge of ABB and Yaskawa VFD systems.

  • Solid understanding of electrical systems motor controls and power distribution in commercial/industrial environments.

  • Ability to work independently and solve complex problems on-site.

  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician License (preferred but not required).

  • OSHA 10/30 certification is a plus.

  • Experience working in large commercial or industrial facilities.
