Dogwood Veterinary Specialty and Emergency is growing.

Following the success of our flagship specialty and emergency hospital in Marietta Georgia we are proud to announce the opening of our second hospital in Dunwoody GA scheduled to open in October 2026.

We are actively building our founding Dermatology Team and seeking passionate Veterinary Technicians Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVTs) and experienced Veterinary Assistants who have an interest in Dermatology Internal Medicine Client Education Specialty Medicine or Advanced Patient Care.

Selected candidates will begin onboarding and training at our established Marietta hospital beginning August 2026 providing the opportunity to train alongside experienced specialists and specialty teams before transitioning into our brand-new Dunwoody facility.

Your Impact as a Veterinary Dermatology Technician

As a Veterinary Dermatology Technician you will play a key role in helping patients find relief from chronic skin ear and allergy-related conditions while supporting advanced diagnostic workups and long-term treatment plans.
Dermatology Patient Care and Nursing Support
  • Assist specialists during dermatology consultations and examinations
  • Support patients with:
    • Environmental and food allergies
    • Chronic dermatitis
    • Otitis and ear disease
    • Skin infections
    • Autoimmune and immune-mediated skin disorders
  • Provide ongoing nursing support for chronic dermatology cases
  • Monitor patient comfort and treatment response
Diagnostic Testing and Sample Collection
  • Collect and prepare diagnostic samples
  • Perform and assist with:
    • Skin scrapings
    • Cytology preparation
    • Ear cytology
    • Fungal culture collection
    • Diagnostic sample handling
  • Support allergy testing and specialty diagnostics
  • Maintain accurate diagnostic records and documentation
Treatment and Procedural Support
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed
  • Assist with:
    • Topical therapies
    • Medicated baths
    • Allergy treatment protocols
    • Minor dermatologic procedures
  • Support sedation and anesthesia when required for specialty procedures
Client Education and Long-Term Case Management
  • Educate clients on:
    • Chronic allergy management
    • Medication administration
    • Preventative care strategies
    • Home care recommendations
  • Reinforce treatment plans and follow-up recommendations
  • Build strong client relationships through communication and support
  • Help improve long-term patient outcomes through education and compliance
Clinical Excellence and Team Collaboration
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment plans
  • Ensure exam rooms and dermatology equipment remain organized and prepared
  • Collaborate with specialists technicians assistants and client service teams
  • Deliver exceptional patient care and client service throughout every visit

Who Were Looking For

Candidates should be able to:
  • Stand walk bend kneel crouch and reach throughout the workday
  • Lift carry and assist in restraining patients weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance available when appropriate
  • Safely handle and work around animals of varying sizes breeds temperaments and medical conditions
  • Perform repetitive tasks requiring manual dexterity including patient restraint sample collection data entry and equipment operation
  • Work in a fast-paced veterinary hospital environment with frequent movement between exam rooms treatment areas and specialty departments
  • Communicate effectively with clients veterinarians specialists and team members in person by phone and electronically
This position may involve exposure to:
  • Animal dander fur saliva and other animal-related allergens
  • Cleaning agents disinfectants and veterinary hospital chemicals
  • Medical odors fragrances perfumes and grooming products
  • Veterinary medical equipment diagnostic imaging equipment and anesthesia monitoring devices
  • Noise associated with animal care and hospital operations
Required Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of veterinary experience preferred
  • Experience within:
    • General Practice
    • Urgent Care
    • Emergency Veterinary Hospitals
    • Specialty Veterinary Hospitals
  • Strong foundation in:
    • Animal Handling and Restraint
    • Venipuncture and Sample Collection
    • Laboratory Diagnostics
    • Client Communication
    • Patient Monitoring
    • Medical Record Documentation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)
  • Previous dermatology experience
  • Strong cytology and laboratory skills
  • Experience supporting chronic case management
  • Passion for client education and specialty medicine
