VETERINARY TECHNICIAN ALL SPECIESDivision of Comparative Medicine (DCM) to serve as part of MITs centralized animal care program providing clinical care and research support for a diverse range of species; under the supervision of campus veterinarians perform clinical observations treatments sample collection colony management technical procedures and other study-related activities in compliance with approved protocols SOPs and regulatory requirements; work independently while collaborating closely with veterinarians veterinary technicians and researchers to promote animal health welfare research integrity and exceptional service; maintain clear communication regarding animal health project progress and clinical concerns.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED:High school diploma or equivalent and at least three years of experience handling laboratory animals; demonstrated time management organizational interpersonal and critical thinking skills with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment; proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications; ability to work weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday) and upon completion of training participate in a rotating holiday coverage schedule. PREFERED: AALAS certification and/or CVT or equivalent; undergraduate degree in animal science biology or related field; experience with anesthesia administration and pre and post-operative animal care; proficiency in technical skills including but not limited to injections and blood/tissue collection.
