Are you a Veterinary Assistant looking for a hospital where you can learn grow and be part of a team that works hard and has fun together Scarborough Animal Hospital is looking for a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our established and supportive team!
We are an AAHA-accredited Fear Free-focused general practice with multiple doctors a diverse caseload and a strong technician team. Our hospital provides opportunities to build your skills while working alongside experienced veterinary professionals.
As a Veterinary Assistant youll play an important role in supporting our doctors and technician team while providing excellent patient care.
Responsibilities may include:
- Assist with patient restraint and handling
- Perform venipuncture
- Place IV catheters
- Assist with anesthesia and patient monitoring
- Read and understand anesthetic monitoring equipment
- Assist with surgical procedures and patient preparation
- Support dental procedures and dental radiographs
- Assist with diagnostics and treatments
- Maintain a clean organized environment
- Work collaboratively with doctors technicians and the entire hospital team
Must Have:
- Proficiency with anesthetic monitoring
- Ability to read anesthetic monitoring equipment
- Venipuncture experience
- IV catheter placement experience
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- A willingness to perform learn and laugh!
Preferred:
- Dental prophylaxis experience
- Dental radiography experience
- AAHA-accredited general practice

At Scarborough Animal Hospital youll join a structured medically progressive GP environment where Veterinary Assistants are encouraged to use their skills and continue learning. Youll work with a diverse caseload gain exposure to surgery and diagnostics and learn alongside an established team of experienced veterinary professionals.

- Provide Essential Patient Care: Youll be a key player in the health of our patients assisting the medical team with hands-on care and ensuring every animal is treated with compassion and respect.
- Be the Go-To Support for the Medical Team: Youll be the backbone of the clinic anticipating the needs of veterinarians and technicians to ensure a smooth efficient and collaborative workflow.
- Create a Positive Client Experience: Youll help create a seamless visit for our clients by assisting with scheduling payments and communications always with a courteous and informative approach.
- Ensure a Safe and Clean Environment: Youll take pride in maintaining the hospital performing clinic upkeep and equipment maintenance to uphold our high standards of care.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A calm and efficient approach with the ability to handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure.
- Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
