**Role Overview**
The Veteran Benefit Representative provides essential support and guidance to veterans service members and their families in Atlanta Georgia. This role involves assisting individuals in understanding and accessing a wide array of benefits and services they have earned. The representative acts as a dedicated resource helping to navigate complex systems complete necessary documentation and connect with appropriate resources. This position requires a compassionate approach and a commitment to advocacy for the veteran community.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Guide veterans service members and their families through the process of applying for various benefits.
- Provide clear and accurate information regarding eligibility requirements for federal state and local programs including healthcare education housing and disability compensation.
- Assist clients with gathering organizing and submitting required documentation for benefit claims.
- Act as a liaison between clients and relevant government agencies or community organizations.
- Maintain accurate confidential and up-to-date records of client interactions and case progress.
- Stay informed about current veteran benefit laws policies procedures and available resources.
- Offer empathetic and patient support actively listening to understand client needs and concerns.
- Educate clients on available support services and referral options.
**Required Qualifications**
- Demonstrated commitment to serving veterans and their families.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust.
- High level of empathy patience and attention to detail.
- Ability to learn interpret and clearly explain complex information.
- Basic computer proficiency including experience with office software and data entry.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Reside in or be willing to relocate to Atlanta Georgia.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Prior experience in a customer service advocacy social work or counseling role.
- Familiarity with veteran affairs government benefits or social services.
- Understanding of military culture and the unique challenges faced by veterans.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus.
