Vehicle Mechanic (8578)

The job of Vehicle Mechanic is done for the purpose/s of ensuring the availability of District vehicles and grounds equipment in safe operating condition including determining needed repairs and/or replacements; performing required repairs and preventative maintenance and providing written documentation of repairs to meetDistrict State and Federal requirements.

Essential Functions

• Adjusts parts and/or components
• Diagnoses potential equipment malfunctions e.g. school buses shop vehicles food service trucks tractors trenchers forklifts grounds equipment etc.
• Maintains tools equipment and shop area
• Monitors fuel storage
• Prepares documentation e.g. records of repairs maintenance logs etc.
• Procures equipment supplies and materials
• Repairs systems/components etc.
• Replaces all defective parts; transportsvarious items to schools e.g. mowers supplies chairs tables etc.
• Assists other trades as may be required e.g. welding duties etc.

Qualifications:

• Job related experience within specialized field is required.
• Criminal justice fingerprint/background clearance.
• Ability to obtain Commercial Drivers License-Class B with passenger Endorsement.
• Air And Brake Endorsement.
• Random drug testing.
• Pre-placement Physical Exam.
• First Aid/CPR Certification within 4 months.
• Freon Recovery Recycling Certificate.
• Targeted job related education that meets organizations prerequisite requirements.

This is a 12-month position.
