Description- VDC Engineer SummaryAt Balfour Beatty Construction we are seeking an entry-level Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Engineer in Southern California. The primary role of the VDC Engineer is to facilitate the successful implementation of BIM (Building Information Modeling) construction technology and related processes and to serve as a resource for business acquisition project teams during proposals preconstruction and operations phases of the project. The VDC Engineer is an entry-level position in the Construction Technology (ConTech) group focused on producing models and providing technology-related services and knowledge. This role ensures project success by using technology to execute processes for or with clients designers (architectural and engineering firms) and FunctionsBusinessDevelopment/AcquisitionUnderstand project requirements and pursuit and develop models to generate images videos and other BIM content for use in proposals and in the development of the BIM Execution plan for new the execution of Balfour Beattys role in preconstruction the integrated projects & preconstruction teams in using BIM tools for analyzing and BIM models during design review in software skills to develop 2D/3D logistics plan for the project team to execute the BIM Execution the project team in setting up new project models for coordination and clash detection. Facilitates Clash Detection sessions and BIM related meetings for the project and assists the project team on the use of BIM and its in other technology needs on projects by developing 3D virtual mockups virtual reality sessions as project teams with implementing all new models or further develops existing models to be used for specific BIM processes at all project in laser scanning processing and analyzing of scan data and photogrammetry pursues personal development to remain proficient in latest BIM technologies and with developing processes and SOPs for the implementation of new in developing training material and training other employees on technology related process Maintains the BIM knowledge database lessons learned techniques and distribute knowledge Observes the BIM process on current projects to capture new/better means and methods Maintains and expand Balfour Beatty BIM content and digital effective relationships with customers design team subcontractors suppliers and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customers expectations. Actively participates in industry client and community relations to enhance company of this job may require periodic meetings at off-site locations and RequirementsB.S. in Construction Management Construction Engineering Architectural Engineering or related field.2-3 years of experience as a project engineer estimator VDC Engineer or experience with BIM/technology programs from a project school or industry is well-rounded basic knowledge of operations and business proficiency using the basic functions of a personal computer (email internet Word Excel Office Outlook etc). Is experienced knowledgeable or capable of learning the following tools: Navisworks Revit AutoCAD Civil 3D CM Builder Fusion Sketch Up Bluebeam and Primavera base compensation range for the role of VDC Engineer in S Ca posted above is $8000 $90000 is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and the range may be modified in the future. An employees pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including but not limited to relevant education qualifications certifications experience skills seniority geographic location performance shift travel requirements any collective bargaining agreements and business or organizational needs.
