Vascular Access Nurse

Essential Functions:

• Assesses patients vascular access needs and determining the most appropriate access device.
• Cares and maintains peripheral intravenous catheters midline catheters and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs).
• Monitors patients vascular access devices for complications such as infection occlusion and extravasation.
• Provides education to patients and their families on vascular access care and maintenance.
• Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement vascular access policies and procedures.
• Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the safety and efficacy of vascular access care.

Education Requirement:

BSN or Associate degree with commitment to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire required.

Licensure Requirement:

Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio required.

Skills:

• Clinical skill and knowledge in the nursing care of children including normal growth and development and/or clinical expertise in specialized area required.
• Effective customer service communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Demonstrated leadership and teaching abilities required.
• Professionally appropriate analytical and organizational skills required.

Experience:

One year post orientation related clinical experience in area of specialty preferred.

Physical Requirements:
