Valve Repair Trainee
Position Summary
The Valve Repair Trainee is responsible for learning and assisting with the inspection disassembly cleaning repair reassembly and testing of industrial valves and related equipment. This position is ideal for mechanically inclined individuals who are eager to develop technical skills in both shop and field service environments. The trainee will work under the guidance of experienced technicians while maintaining a strong commitment to safety quality and customer satisfaction. A valid drivers license is required and the position requires occasional travel to customer sites. Field service assignments may require travel for up to one or two weeks at a time.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the inspection troubleshooting repair and testing of industrial valves and related equipment.
- Disassemble clean inspect evaluate and reassemble valves according to company procedures and manufacturer specifications.
- Learn to identify worn damaged or out-of-specification components and recommend corrective actions.
- Operate hand tools power tools measuring instruments and testing equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain accurate repair records and complete required documentation.
- Support shop operations including housekeeping equipment maintenance and inventory management.
- Follow all company safety policies procedures and quality standards.
- Participate in training programs to develop technical knowledge and repair skills.
- Travel to customer facilities as needed to support field service projects including assignments that may last up to one or two weeks.
- Assist with field service inspections repairs and installations.
- Communicate professionally with customers supervisors and team members.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and follow technical instructions drawings and work procedures.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with common software applications.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to learn new skills and work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally for field service assignments which may require being away from home for up to one or two weeks at a time.
- Must possess a valid drivers license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
- Must be willing and able to complete all required safety training and maintain applicable certifications.
Work Environment & Compliance Requirements

- Employees are subject to random periodic and for-cause drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company policy and federal laws.
- Must comply with all company safety rules policies and procedures.
- Must maintain professional conduct when representing the company at customer facilities and job sites.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand walk bend kneel and work in various shop and field environments.
- Ability to use hand tools and equipment safely.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous mechanical maintenance automotive machining or industrial experience.
- Basic understanding of valves pumps regulators or rotating equipment.
- Familiarity with measuring tools such as calipers micrometers and gauges.
