JOB GOAL: To substitute for bus drivers and to assist bus drivers in transporting all students and the operation of a school bus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES APPLICABLE TO ALL EMPLOYEES:
Attend on a regular and predictable basis.
Complete assigned tasks in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness.
Uphold Board policies including the anti-harassment program.
Work in a cooperative manner with students teachers staff supervisors and the public.
Work effectively and efficiently under time and productivity standards.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspect school bus before operation.
Observe designated routes.
Obey Federal State and Local rules and regulations.
Complete written reports as required.
Maintain clean school bus.
Report all bus mechanical problems.
Report student discipline problems.
Serve as an emergency substitute route driver
Serve as an aide on various other bus routes when needed.
Assist students loading and unloading from the school bus.
Assist driver in maintaining discipline.
Assist students with problems related to their handicap.
Perform any other pertinent assignment deemed necessary by the Director of Transportation and Director of Operations to assist in the efficiency and effectiveness of the Transportation Department.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to tasks that involve infrequent exposure to blood bodily fluids or tissues. Risk involved with travel on main highway side streets and rural roads during business travel including evenings and weekends. Tasks that involve handling implements or utensils use of public or shared bathroom facilities and personal contacts. Possible exposure to communicable diseases. Able to work a flexible schedule. Must be able to travel enter and exit a vehicle without assistance and withstand exposure to adverse weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Random drug tests may be performed.
EMPLOYMENT: This is a nine-month position (183 days) at four hours per day. Salary is based on the board approved salary schedule.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of Support Personnel.
