TheUS Medical Director Immunology plays a pivotal role in shaping and advancing theUS medical strategyforimmunology in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)and upcoming lifecycle management indications includingsystemic sclerosis (SSc)cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE)lupus nephritis (LN) andidiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM).
Reporting to theUS Medical Head Immunology this role is a core member of theUS Medical Team Immunologyand will help define the scientific narrative evidence generation plans launch readiness activities and scientific communications strategy in the US. This is a highly visible cross-functional leadership opportunity that will directly influence how scientific data is translated into meaningful medical impact for clinicians patients and the broader healthcare community.
In this role you will:
- Co-shape and execute US medical strategyfor lifecycle management ensuring alignment with broader business and medical priorities.
- Develop and communicate the US scientific narrativeacross indications translating complex clinical and scientific data into clear accurate and compliant strategies and materials.
- Support launch readinessfor lifecycle indications including scientific platform development congress planning internal training scientific response planning and medical information preparedness.
- Partner on evidence generation strategy includingreal-world evidence (RWE)health economics and outcomes research (HEOR)externally sponsored research (ESRs) publication planning and congress activities.
- Contribute to external scientific engagement planswith key experts institutions professional societies and other stakeholders in a compliant and strategic manner.
- Provide medical review and scientific inputfor publications training materials FAQs and promotional and non-promotional content in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Deliver scientific and clinical trainingforField Medicalteams and internal stakeholders to build readiness across lifecycle priorities.
- Collaborate closely with global teamsto ensure US insights and needs are reflected in global medical and development plans.
- Ensure full compliancewithFDAOPDPPhRMA andAstraZenecapolicies standards and ways of working.
- Champion innovative and AI-enabled ways of workingto improve efficiency and enhance medical impact.
To succeed in this role you should bring:
- Anadvanced degreesuch asMS MD PhD or PharmD.
- A minimum of5 years of experienceinmedical affairsclinical development and/orlifecycle managementwithin the pharmaceutical biotechnology or academic sectors; or a minimum of 5 years of experience of direct patient care in academic or clinical setting.
- Strong expertise inimmunologyrheumatologyautoimmune disease or a closely related therapeutic area.
- Solid understanding of theUS regulatory and compliance environment includingFDAandOPDPrequirements.
- Experience contributing toevidence generationRWE/HEORpublicationscongress strategy andscientific communications.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in across-functional matrix environmentand alignUS and global medical priorities.
- Excellentscientific communicationpresentation andstakeholder engagementskills.
- The ability to translate complex scientific information intoclear compelling accessible and compliant messagesfor diverse audiences.
- Strongjudgmentcollaborative leadership and a commitment tohigh ethical standards.
- Willingness and ability totravel within the USand occasionallyinternationally.
The following would be advantageous:
- Prior experience supportinglaunch readinessfor new indications or lifecycle expansion opportunities.
- Experience working across multiple stakeholder groups includingMedicalCommercialClinical DevelopmentRegulatoryMarket Access/HEORMedical Information andPatient Safety.
- Familiarity with building or refiningscientific platformsandmedical response strategies.
- Experience engaging withexternal expertsinstitutions andprofessional societiesin a compliant scientific exchange setting.
- Interest in or experience withinnovative and AI-enabled approachesto improve medical affairs effectiveness and execution.
