- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Completion of an accredited Home Health Aide (HHA) training program preferred.
- Active Home Health Aide (HHA) certification or license preferred.
- Physically capable of performing assigned caregiving duties.
- Ability to safely handle body fluids and other potentially hazardous materials.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients families and healthcare staff.
- Must meet all applicable employment and personnel requirements.
- Provide compassionate personal care and support to patients in their homes under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Follow established safety procedures while delivering patient care.
- Maintain regular communication with the supervising nurse regarding changes in the patients condition.
- Carry out care according to the written care plan and assignments prepared by the Registered Nurse.
- Accurately document all care provided and submit required reports on time.
- Observe and promptly report any changes in the patients physical mental or emotional condition.
- Complete and submit all required documentation in accordance with agency policies.
- Perform duties within the scope of practice for a Home Health Aide as defined by state regulations.
- Change sterile dressings.
- Irrigate body cavities including administering enemas.
- Irrigate colostomies or wounds.
- Perform gastric irrigation or enteral feeding.
- Insert urinary catheters.
- Administer medications.
- Apply heat treatments by any method.
- Provide tracheostomy care.
- Perform any personal healthcare service that is outside the approved plan of care or beyond their authorized scope of practice.
