Position Title: Upper School History and Government Teacher

Location: Great Hearts Arlington Upper School (6701 S Cooper St.
Arlington TX 76001)

Reports To: Headmaster

FLSA Status: Salaried-Exempt

Humanities at Great Hearts:

History courses offered are as follows:

  • Introduction to the American Tradition - 6th grade

  • Ancient History - 7th grade

  • US History - 8th grade

  • American History and Literature - 9th Grade

  • European History and Literature - 10th Grade

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned classes using the Great Hearts curriculum and materials preparing thoughtful lessons and cultivating an orderly joyful classroom that supports the pursuit of truth goodness and beauty.

  • Provide appropriate academic support to students monitor progress and partner with school leadership to address academic or behavioral needs in a timely manner.

  • Uphold and model the culture policies and expectations of Great Hearts including dress code conduct and safety procedures contributing to a respectful and orderly school environment.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with families initiating conferences as needed and fostering strong home-school partnerships.

  • Participate fully in the life of the academy through faculty collaboration school events assigned duties and a shared commitment to ongoing professional growth and excellence in teaching.

Required/Preferred Education:

  • Bachelors or higher degree is required for a lead teaching role

  • Certification is not required for general education

  • All majors are welcome

US Work Authorization is required.

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
