Job Summary

Qualifications: Bachelors Degree or higher

Certified by the state of South Carolina and/or Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) or eligible for certification.

Spiritual Qualifications:

A teacher at James Island Christian School is a professed believer in Jesus Christ. He/she believes that the Bible is Gods Word and the standard for daily living. The JICS teacher is equipped with spiritual maturity academic ability and leadership qualities to nurture and grow students spiritually academically physically and emotionally for life and eternity. The JICS teacher must be in direct alignment with the schools mission philosophy and statements of belief.

The JICS teacher shall:

I. Provide instruction for the assigned students grades and subjects by:

Demonstrating sound knowledge and enthusiasm of the curriculum being taught

Using effective oral and written communication Exhibiting a rapport and understanding of students

Delivering instruction that is effective and varied

Selecting and using instructional aids effectively (digital learning)

Engaging students in active learning Recognizing individual learning needs and adjusting instruction accordingly

Evaluating student mastery of progress

Using diagnostic formative and summative assessments

Providing academic challenge through depth of knowledge questions

Integrating biblical principles and Christian worldview

Providing lessons that reflect varying levels of biblical integration

Building of student transfer of knowledge both academically and spiritually

II. Manage the learning environment by Maintaining a safe classroom environment

Establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning

Using time efficiently with both instructional and non instructional tasks

Redirecting students from inappropriate to appropriate behavior or from off task to on task behavior

III. Follow professional practices in adherence to school policies by

Submitting lesson plans weekly to RenWeb/Curriculum Trak

Completing curriculum calendars and unit plans in a timely manner

Posting grades on a weekly basis Attending parent conferences as needed

Fulfilling morning lunch and afternoon duties as assigned

Attending and fulfilling duties at fine arts events

Fulfilling carpool hall parking lot and restroom duties as assigned

Supervising students outside the classroom

Enforcing dress code and adhering to the JICS discipline code

Interacting in a Christlike manner toward students parents and colleagues

Communication with parents and administrators in a timely manner

Maintaining confidentiality of student information

Attending required faculty and worship meetings

Adhering to JICS teacher expectations as defined by the staff handbook

Maintaining regular and prompt attendance Maintaining current certification

Consistently modeling Christ for students

Mentoring students in their walk with Christ IV. Grow professionally by

Developing and implementing professional growth goals

Maintaining yearly Biblical continuing education units

Fulfilling Christian Philosophy of Education requirements

Participating in required staff development sessions

Maintaining state and/or ACSI certification by completing and submitting required CEUs

Focusing on individual spiritual growth by regularly engaging in a personal Bible-centered devotional and prayer time
