SUMMARY/SCOPE:This unpaidintern/resident position will assist in teaching first and second year HSU DPTstudents and providing care at the HSU pro-bono PT clinic. This is an unpaid intern position atHardin-Simmons University however the individual(s) selected will be paid byHendrick Medical Center and West Texas Rehabilitation Center (WTRC). Thisintern will work 8 hours per week at HSU as the resident is going through residencytraining of 32 hours/ week at Hendrick Medical Center and West TexasRehabilitation Center (WTRC). Part of the residency program requiresthat the unpaid intern assist with teaching at Hardin-Simmons University. The residency program is a one-year commitment to Hendrick Medical Center WestTexas Rehabilitation Center (WTRC) and Hardin-Simmons University withcompletion after 12 months in the Residency certificate will be offered at the end of the 12 months.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist as Teaching Assistant in Kinesiology AnatomyMusculoskeletal I and II and provide pro-bono services in the HSU PT CampusClinic. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: PT MPT or DPT; graduate of an accredited PT program. CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS: Holds a current PT licensure in the state of Texas. Must have current CPR/BLS certification. Mustbe a member of APTA orthopedic section and TPTA. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium requirements of lifting is up to 50 pounds on occasion and other ADA demands of a physical therapist. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Mostlyinside airconditioned building (90% of time). ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: No felony convictions or other legal issues that would prevent thecandidate from practicing PT and is in good standing with the Texas PT board. Additional Requirements toApply: Applicant will need to submit CV/Resume 2 recommendations letters (1from faculty 1 from CI or professional colleague) and 1 page summary as towhy you are interested in this position.
