Job Summary
CAN Capital is looking for an Underwriter Associate to join our team!
CAN Capital is a market leader in small business finance with over $7B in small business fundings to over 81000 businesses. Our Business Underwriters are critical to our business. They help drive company strategy and profitability by making smart merchant credit decisions and mitigating risk while working effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
Effectively manages application flow in Salesforce on a first-in first-out basis.
Gathers accurate timely information using fact-finding techniques and tools.
Reviews required elements of a merchants application to ensure the stability of CANs loan offers related to potential credit risks downstream in accordance with CAN Capital Operations policies and procedures.
Identifies missing incomplete or off information to ensure a full and complete picture of the merchant.
Actions each merchant application correcting merchant information confirming or declining each application as defined by procedures.
Ensures each loan application has a complete checklist.
Keeps accurate notes on reviewed applications ensuring a clear audit trail.
Consistently and efficiently works pipeline of applications meeting SLAs.
Communicates issues and trends to leadership.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
AA degree or higher in a business-related discipline is preferred.
Prior experience in a professional environment is preferred but not required.
Salesforce or other CRM experience preferred but not required.
Basic - Proficiency in Excel Outlook and M. Teams.
Ability to produce high-quality work within assigned SLAs.
Ability to articulate clearly through written and verbal communication internally and externally.
Ability to work in a hybrid environment.
Ability to operate comfortably in a digital environment.
Ability to work with limited supervision within authority limits in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills:
Bachelors degree with 3 years underwriting experience preferred Experience gathering business information for due diligence using various tools required Experience reviewing evaluating and making risk-based decisions within an approved authority matrix preferred Ability to read a consumer credit report (Experian/Equifax/Transunion) required Ability to Perform Cash Flow analysis from bank statements and financial statements required Must have excellent written and verbal digital and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to adjust to the demands of a hybrid office environment easily Strong problem solving analytical and negotiation skills required Intermediate skills in MS Office products including Word Excel Outlook Teams Ability to maintain confidentiality required Ability to perform work in a dynamic demanding high-energy environment with an exceptional degree of organization required Exhibits self-discipline and self-motivation at all times Demonstrates characteristics such as flexibility adaptability responsive to coaching and feedback
