Job Summary

About the Position: Commonwealth Underwriters a division of HUB International is a property and casualty managing general agency specializing in commercial lines and transportation business. We operate as part of SPG Wholesale LLC a rapidly growing P&C wholesaler and MGA headquartered in Burbank CA with branch offices in AL MA FL and VA. We sell exclusively to retail agencies across the country with a focus on small to mid-market E&S commercial and specialty lines risks.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills and serve as a technical resource to a large and growing binding and brokerage team. Successful applicants will work alongside in-house Underwriter(s) carrier partners and retail agents to request and review underwriting information for the placement of coverage invoicing rating and processing of endorsements including assisting with quote preparation and obtaining accurate state compliance documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bind and invoice placement of coverage; rate and process endorsements with invoicing audits and other documents in accordance with established departmental procedures with accuracy efficiency and full compliance with applicable standards.

  • Handle cancellation notices cancellation endorsements and rescission documents.

  • Act as liaison between retail clients and the underwriter to obtain missing information provide status updates on quotes and binds and respond to general requests for information.

  • Manage surplus lines (SL) compliance documentation in accordance with state-specific requirements.

  • Quote new and renewal transportation accounts.

  • Monitor review and quote all submissions from Lloyds cargo/APD and NICO auto liability online raters.

  • Maintain policy files for all active transportation accounts including endorsement quotes coverage questions and certificate approval.

  • Serve as point of contact for workflow and questions related to OIPs processing of all NICO cancellations reinstatements and endorsements.

  • Resolve NICO endorsement cancellation and reinstatement discrepancies or errors for OIP.

  • Approve all NCRF fees on NICO endorsement issuance for OIP.

  • Process NICO additional insured and loss payee endorsements (not processed by OIP).

  • Process all commercial garage and transportation North Carolina NICO endorsements cancellations and reinstatements.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; college coursework preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in insurance underwriting support customer service or a related field with a demonstrated track record of success.

  • Positive service-oriented attitude with comfort handling a high volume of phone and email communication.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • High degree of adaptability; able to effectively manage shifting priorities and varied workflows.

  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook Excel and various carrier rating portals.

Licensing Requirments:

  • Resident P&C license in state of domicile required; copy of active license due within 30 days of hire date.

Work Location:

  • This position is available on a hybrid or fully remote basis.

Salary Transparency:

The expected salary range for this position is $28 to $33 an hour and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidates skills experience and working location as well as the specific positions business line scope and level.
