Duties and Responsibilities

1. *Assists with all aspects of NCAA Division I Baseball Program including student recruitment and development on field coaching contest scheduling compliance with NCAA Conference and University of Hawaii rules and regulations student-athlete academic achievement and other duties assigned by the Head Coach.
2. *Assists and participates in practices and intercollegiate competitions. Teaches necessary skills from the basic fundamentals to the techniques and strategies of team play.
3. *Promotes and fosters a positive team environment appropriate behavior and sportsmanship by team members. Responsible for the conduct of team members both on and off the field.
4. *Promotes and maintains an environment where the physical mental social and academic well-being of all student-athletes are a priority.
5. *Assists with identifying evaluating recruiting and selecting qualified prospects who have the ability to compete in the classroom and athletically. Actively seek out and encourage a diverse group of prospects and assist them through the application process. Works collaboratively with the Compliance Student-Athlete Services and Academics staff to qualify and process prospects in a timely and efficient manner. Makes recurring contacts by telephone writes correspondence conducts off-campus visits and evaluations and coordinates off campus visits as assigned by the Head Coach.
6. *Assists in scouting of opponents including the exchange and analysis of film.
7. *Assists with overseeing the academic progress and success of student-athletes including promoting and maintaining an environment that encourages academic achievement as measured by academic eligibility retention and graduation.
8. *Assists the Head Coach in analyzing statistical information to further team success.
9. *Actively participates in fundraising promotional and public relation activities for the sports program.
10. *Responsible for performing the duties of a Campus Security Authority as defined by University policy and federal law with regards to the Clery Act.
11. Participates in sports clinics exhibitions and camps as approved.
12. *Maintains collaborative working relationships with administrators and coaches in the department other college offices and appropriate relationships with members of the media donors and other individuals interested in the sports program.
13. *Maintains confidentiality to include but not limited to information files and records that the incumbent may obtain or possess in accordance with federal and state laws and University of Hawaii policies.
14. *Knows recognizes and complies with the laws policies rules and regulations governing the University of Hawaii and its employees and the rules of the National Collegiate Athletic Association and affiliated conferences as now constituted or as may be amended in the future. Immediately advises the Director of Athletics or designee if there is reasonable cause to believe violations whether by employees students or others have occurred or will occur.
15. Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualification

1. Graduation from an accredited four year college or university;
2. One (1) year experience coaching baseball at the college or university level; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
3. Knowledge of baseball as competed at the collegiate level.
4. Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.
7. Ability to work outside of normally scheduled work hours including day night weekend and/or holiday hours as directed.
8. Ability to travel with the team as required.
9. Ability to work with all segments of the University of Hawaii community and the general public.
10. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
11. Ability to travel independently to various geographical locations in a timely manner. Required to possess and maintain a valid drivers license.
12. First Aid CPR and AED certification by the employment start date.
13. Computer cell phone and social media technology competency.
14. or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.

Desirable Qualifications

1. Division I baseball coaching experience.
2. Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity understanding and working effectively in multicultural societies similar to Hawaii contributing to an inclusive environment.
