TITLE: LiteracyTutor (19.5 hours) 1 year only

POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide small group in-class and out-of-class instruction in Literacy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Working with the classroom teacher andLiteracy specialist to provide rigorous small group mathematics strategies and skills instruction in-class and out-of-class.
  2. Administer and document formal informal and progress monitoring assessments.
  3. Meet routinely with theLiteracy specialist and Intervention team using data to discuss students progress and needs.
  4. Responsible for creating and updating RTI plans and reports.
  5. Attend and actively engage in all professional development data analysis planning and parent meetings.
  6. Willingness to become involved in the academic and social aspects of school life to support student success school spirit and school climate and culture.
  7. Engage in a continuous cycle of feedback and improvement regarding instruction planning and classroom culture.
  8. Evaluate and recommend materials and programs beneficial for the intervention program.
    Incorporates technology when appropriate in tutoring sessions.
  9. Adheres to the adopted policies of the Bellingham School Committee.
  10. Foster a positive relationship with students staff and family.
  11. Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

SKILLS/ABILITY:

  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  2. Knowledge of Google classroom Google meet and iReady helpful.
  3. Understanding of or experience usingUFLI DIBELSWonders programs and assessments

CERTIFICATES LICENSES and/or DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Experience teaching Literacy at K-6 levels per the Massachusetts Frameworks preferred.
  2. Completed at least two years of study at an institute of higher education obtained at least an associate degree or meet a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate knowledge of and ability to assist inLiteracy instruction.
  3. Understanding of or experience using rubrics and standards-based units of instruction preferred.

SALARY: $30/hour up to 19.5 hours/week

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Union

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

You are required to be physically capable of escorting students from the building in case of a practice drill or emergency situation in a safe and timely fashion.

Must be able to move about the classroom and have the ability to bend sit or stand frequently.

REPORTS TO: Building Principal or Designee
