Job Summary
Trust Officer - Settlement
Responsible for the day-to-day administration of a diverse portfolio of trust accounts including settlement special needs SAM directed and court-supervised trusts while ensuring compliance with applicable laws regulations policies and procedures. The Trust Officer is a professional fiduciary committed to responsive relationship-centered service for clients and beneficiaries. This position reports to a Senior Trust Officer or Director of Personal Trust Services.
Role Responsibilities
Trust Administration
- Demonstrate ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals across all levels of physical cognitive and developmental disabilities fostering an inclusive and supportive environment.
- Build trusted client relationships by providing consistent service professionalism and clear communication.
- Guide beneficiaries and their representatives through trust administration life events and thoughtful distribution decisions that consider benefit eligibility (when appropriate) value of trust and future needs.
- Coordinate with estate planning attorneys case managers caregivers CPAs financial advisors and settlement planners on caring for a beneficiary identifying resources and fulfilling the trust administration plan.
- Administer a complex portfolio of personal trust accounts while maintaining accurate well-organized records and ensuring compliance with governing documents federal and state tax filing requirements court and Medicaid requirements trust guidelines and applicable laws and regulations.
- Document discretionary decisions thoroughly including the supporting facts and fiduciary rationale for the trust file and for review by peers and committee members.
- Complete routine reviews of trust administration while identifying and mitigating risks proactively.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to colleagues by sharing expertise in settlement and special needs trust administration modeling sound judgment and reinforcing best practices in compliance service and beneficiary care.

- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
- Skilled with trust accounting software.
- Able to understand and follow company policies regarding information security including password multi-factor authentication and remote access use.

- Coordinate all aspects of fiduciary taxation with third parties.
- Regularly update client interactions in CRM database.

- Swiftly refer problems/issues to the appropriate person(s) when necessary.
- Demonstrate visible commitment to the Companys core values and guiding principles and achieving results.
- Able to identify common attempts at information security scams like email phishing.
Role Qualifications
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Knowledge of the legal and regulatory aspects of nonprofit and government assistance programs social services case management estate administration and/or settlement/special needs trust administration.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of Social Security Medicaid and other means-tested programs.
- Undergraduate degree professional credentials or equivalent experience.
- Some travel is for business development opportunities.
- Spanish speaking is a plus.
