Job Summary
The Truck Driver will safely and efficiently deliver finished goods products and materials to customers in a timely and professional manner.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Operates a semi-truck according to applicable state and federal transportation laws.
- Transports loads safely and in a timely manner over the required route obeying all traffic laws and observing all safety regulations.
- Deftly maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; follows loading crew signals.
- Assists with loading of or loads and unloads goods and materials using specialized equipment when warranted and following the delivery schedule; unloads empty skids and returns all equipment to designated area.
- Ensures loaded material matches the information on the bill of landing.
- Maintains signed invoices shipping bills of lading and other required paperwork; delivers documentation to shipping office or other appropriate staff when delivery route is complete.
- Facilitates routine service on trucks which may include checking oil water gasoline and air; reports maintenance malfunctions to Shipping Lead.
- Arranges trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns.
The employer may require an employee to perform other duties as assigned on a temporary and infrequent basis.

- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak professionally and courteously with customers and staff at delivery points in English.
- Good verbal and written skills in English.
- Ability to remain focused and work in a fast-paced and busy environment.
- Organized with great attention to detail.
- Ability to manage and work on a computer
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to create and maintain cooperative team building relationships.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Actively listen to instructions understand them and ask questions
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form.
- Ability to add subtract multiply and divide to calculate correct weight for each load.
Education and Experiences
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must hold the required commercial drivers license appropriate for the weight of the vehicle to be operated (Illinois CDL-A or equivalent).
- Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations.
- Forklift license
- Experience using computers is a plus
