TRANSPORTATION PLANNING INTERN

Summary:The City of Lawrence KS isseekingto fill the position of TransportationPlanning Intern. This position is a part-time position (20hours maximum per week). The TransportationPlanning Intern will assisttransportation planning staff implementing the Lawrence Douglas County Metropolitan Planning Organization work plan througha variety of duties that will involve:conducting public outreach assisting with meeting setup and preparation formatting documents reviewing and editingdocumentcontent writingand designingsections of reports gathering and organizing data participating in meetings interacting with other local and state government officials and experiencing a wide range of activities performed by MPO quality control conducting public outreachassistingwith meeting setup and preparation formatting documents reviewing and editing content writing sections of reports gathering and organizing data participating in meetings interacting with other local and state government officials and experiencing a wide range of activities performed bythe transportation planning kind of work benefits from a person who has the ability to think analytically visually and spatially; and it requires an affinity for attention to detail as well as excellent computer skills. This position is designed to develop the leadership and technical skills of the intern while providing the City with highly capable staff support. Additional information regarding Lawrence Douglas County MPO is available online intern is preferred to be a current student (graduate or undergraduate) from an accredited college or university with major course work in planning public administration geography environmental studies or a related field. This intern needs to have a willingness to learn transportation planning intern should also have strong computerproficiencywith Microsoft Office Suite Creative Cloud and/orArcGISarerecommended but notrequired. This intern will need strong writing and editing skills with a high attention to detail. The candidate must possess a valid drivers license.
