IMEG is hiring a Transportation Engineering Intern in Long Island NY. Over 10-12 weeks youll gain hands-on experience supporting engineering analysis design field inspections report writing permit applications and site drainage and grading design while learning the transportation engineering trade.

Youll collaborate with experienced engineers and consultants work within project budgets and support cross-functional teams to help meet project goals and client expectations. You will also contribute to documentation coordination and project delivery within a civil team serving environmental municipal and wastewater clients across Long Island and New York City.

What Youll Do

• Assist with transportation design for highway bridge transit and multimodal projects according to code and IMEG standards.

• Research commercially available equipment and project resources.

• Support client relations maintain the project design notebook and provide documentation for permanent record files.

• Coordinate design and schedule with other disciplines including architectural structural electrical mechanical technology clerical and equipment suppliers.

• Document design decisions meetings and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.

• Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before requesting a final check.

• Assist with the preparation and issuance of addendum information.

• Conduct periodic job site observations and support other services required by the contract services agreement.

What Youll Bring

• Completed at least 2 years towards a Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent required

• May be to assist with field duties such as surveying and materials testing

• Strong interest in design consulting

• Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs CAD software and BIM

• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred

• Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to sit walk stand talk see hear and lift objects up to 25 pounds

• Occasionally required to drive kneel stoop crouch crawl reach with hands or arms and grasp or pull

• Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises

State of New York Pay Range: $22.00 $24.00 per hour

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors including the candidates experience education knowledge skills abilities and licensure and certifications.
