Job Summary

Job Responsibilities

Works with all District and Resident Engineers to develop contracts. Views road candidates compiles datasheets of payitems and quantities special provisions and notes necessary to accomplish the work. Enters data prepares packages forresurfacing preservation pavement markings guardrails sidewalks raised pavement markers etc. to include plans specifications special provisions and construction timeframes. This includes working with Office of Materials and Research (OMR) to develop pavement designs for resurfacing packages including coring of proposed roads to determine the existing structure.Establishes and maintains the Districts priority lists and selection for resurfacing and bridges for both federal and non-federal aid routes to ensure compliance with regulations.Responds to Customer Service Center requests for information related to the execution of specific roads within the District.Works with the Resident Maintenance Engineers to determine priority request pavement evaluations as necessary. Works closely with County Transportation Committees (CTCs) to suggest and monitor roadways for preservation resurfacing or reconstruction.Provides cost estimates plans specifications special provisions and construction time frames for any special projects as directed by the District Engineering Administrator. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelors degree in Engineering and seven and one-half (7.5) years of engineering work experience. Necessary Special Requirement: Registration as a Professional Engineer by the South Carolina State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors.

The physical demands for the essential functions involves sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. May require bending stooping reaching twisting climbing balancing and kneeling. Walking for extended periods treading rough terrain working in close proximity to motoring traffic and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal business hours or respond to emergency situations.
