Job Summary
TRANSPORTATION DISPATCHER
FISD TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Dispatch drivers and school buses. Monitor and respond to two-way radio communication. Answer record and route telephone calls. Record absentee calls and assign substitutes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Proficient keyboarding data entry word processing and file maintenance skills.
- Knowledge of correct English usage grammar spelling and punctuation.
- Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principals.
- Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets and word processing.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills.
MAJOR RESP0NSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Dispatch drivers and vehicles on a daily basis.
- Monitor and respond to radio communications.
- Track absence calls from transportation staff.
- Assign substitute drivers and monitors for bus routes as needed.
- Respond to driver requests for assistance as needed.
- Process and arrange for extra-curricular transportation requests.
- Track process and submit reports associated with school transportation.
- Order parts equipment and other supplies as needed.
- Periodically check to ensure that bus video cameras are operational.
- Oversee all operations at the bus barn to include white fleet usage fuel orders vehicle registration and mechanic
This position requires early hours. Schedule will match the hours of regular bus operations.
