Job Summary
We are seeking a Transportation and Visitor Use (TVU) Consultant for our Visitor Use Management team. As a TVU Consultant you will design conduct and deliver applied research and consulting services to support data-driven management of transportation and visitor use in national parks protected areas and mountain communities. Your work on our team will help our clients balance goals for resource protection visitor experience quality and the quality of life and economies of local communities in cherished landscapes and places through the U.S. and internationally. You are an accomplished contributor and technical leader in all phases of our transportation planning and visitor use management projects including study scoping and design data collection and analysis methods development planning and onsite management of field-based and other data collection activities; data coding cleaning analysis and modeling of primary and secondary data; public and stakeholder engagement; client correspondence and project coordination; and delivering results reports and presentations to our clients. You play an instrumental role in business development including developing and fostering new client relationships.
As an effective TVU Consultant you are accomplished in study scoping design and delivery and you have a passion for parks and protected areas management a desire to work as part of a fast-paced team and a commitment to quality that meets our clients high standards for technical excellence. You have advanced proficiency in data science skills including database management data QA/QC and statistical analysis methods and tools (script-based programming proficiency in R or similar preferred). You have knowledge of and are eager to develop expertise in public lands recreation planning and management. You are a team player who is dedicated to delivering technically excellent project results and translating them into actionable insights and solutions for our clients.
- Graduate degree or equivalent professional experience in data sciences statistics mathematics economics natural resources transportation planning/analysis or related field.
- Previous academic research consulting experience or government employment in transportation and visitor use analysis for national parks and protected areas.
- Advanced proficiency in quantitative study design data collection methods statistical analysis and modeling and applied technical reporting and presentations.
- Advanced proficiency in script-based statistical software programming and analysis (R preferred).
- Interest in and aptitude for client relationship management.
- Desire to contribute to multiple concurrent projects and ability to maintain project timelines.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency in geospatial data analysis and ArcGIS.
- Proficiency in applications of novel data including Location-based Services and Connected Vehicles data.
- Proficiency in equipment-based data collection tools and methods (e.g. infrared trail counters automated traffic counters GPS tracking devices license plate recognition cameras etc.).
- Proficiency in simulation modeling of transportation and visitor use data (e.g. VISSIM Synchro AnyLogic ExtendSim Excel).
- Proficiency in data visualization (e.g. Power BI Tableau ArcGIS Experience).
- Familiarity with the components and application of the U.S. Interagency Visitor Use Management Framework.

Periodic travel is required and a valid U.S. drivers license is required. Preference for position to be based in the Lakewood Colorado Missoula Montana or Bozeman Montana offices with the potential for hybrid remote or alternative office-based options depending on the candidate.
