Job Description:

Transporter - Transport

Part-time (20 weekly hours)

8-hour shifts schedule varies (mix of first and second shift)

Occasional weekends required

Transport patients safely and efficiently to and from clinical ancillary and support areas via wheelchair or movable bed to include transport of patients with oxygen tanks intravenous pumps drips and special equipment.

  • Provide distribution services of requested items between various departments as needed in accordance with established procedures.

  • Assist patients with mobility needs including transferring patients to and from beds wheelchairs stretchers and other transportation devices.

  • Assists with patient handling and lifting using appropriate patient safety equipment (including side rails restraints and falls protocol) and appropriate safety procedures.

  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during transportation utilizing proper lifting and transfer techniques and adhering to infection control protocols.

  • Remains alert to patient condition and promptly communicate any sign of patient distress or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.

  • Validate patient identity based on established department protocol.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred upon hire and required within six weeks of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Six months experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
