Job Summary
Major responsibilities of the Transmission Line Engineer will include:
- Design of high and extra-high voltage (69-500kV) transmission lines using PLS-CADD.
- Prepare construction documents including plan and profile drawings structure loading trees and foundation assembly drawings.
- Prepare specifications and project design criteria.
- Provide field support during construction.
- The ideal candidate will be able to build and maintain strong relationships with clients as well as provide technical leadership guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members.
- Experience in HVDC is a plus.
- Occasional travel to client and project locations will be expected.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program and 3 years of transmission engineering experience required. Consulting preferred.
- Or Bachelors Degree in Civil or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 3 years of transmission engineering experience required. Consulting preferred.
- Or Masters Degree in Civil Engineering and 2 years of transmission engineering experience required. Consulting preferred.
- Strong knowledge in standard civil/structural engineering techniques and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong computer skills (e.g. AutoCAD MicroStation BIM (Revit) Civil 3D PLS PLS-CADD RISA-3D MathCADD) and/or hydraulic hydrologic pavement transmission analysis programs.
- Strong attention to detail facilitation team building collaboration organization and problem-solving skills.
- Engineers in Training-EIT Certification preferred.
