Key Responsibilities

The Reentry and Rehabilitation Division is seeking to hire a Trainer II (Correctional Educator) to provide classroom instruction to incarcerated individuals located at the Utah State Correctional Facility in Salt Lake City. Topics of instruction include but are not limited to life skills and addressing criminogenic risk factors. The Trainer II will develop curriculum deliver classroom instruction track student progress and collaborate with team members to facilitate organizational education processes.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience developing lesson plans for classroom instruction

  • Experience using some type of Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Experience with in-person classroom and e-learning delivery methods.

  • The ability to measure and assess student education progress

  • The ability to successfully manage a classroom of adult learners

  • The ability to diversify instruction based on students needs

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A passion for continuous learning and engaging students in learning.

  • A minimum of an Associates degree with an emphasis in education learning and development methods or criminal justice.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Designs and/or prepares instructional materials teaching aids for classroom instruction

  • Conducts in-person instruction to a class of incarcerated adults

  • Implements learning objectives lesson plans and student progress tracking

Qualifications:

  • Instructional methods and techniques

  • Assessing organizational needs such as staffing training security etc

  • Testing and/or examination methodologies

  • Survey methodology and related tools

This position is non-certified and does not require POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training Certification).
