Job Summary
R.J. Corman Switching Company is currently seeking a Track Supervisor to join our team in Westlake LA.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate plan and perform track maintenance work (install ties change rail etc.).
- Perform weekly track inspections to ensure safe train operations.
- Monitor work practices and safety-related issues to improve quality and performance.
- Work with customers both internally and externally.
- Plan and provide future track improvements for the location.
- Manage employees equipment and materials.
- Three or more years of track maintenance experience preferred.
- Must have experience in Maintenance of Way standards.
- Prior supervisory experience.
- Familiar with and able to apply safety and operating procedures.
- Independent starter and self-motivated with good communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to perform physically strenuous work.
- Able to frequently bend stoop kneel and crouch.
- Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Requires occasional use of a 30 lb. claw bar to remove spikes requiring application of 50 lbs. of force.
- Requires occasional use of a 10 lb. sledgehammer to drive spikes requiring application of 75 lbs. of force.
- Able to walk climb and maintain balance on equipment stairs ladders uneven terrain rails and ballast in a safe manner.
- Able to navigate into confined spaces if necessary.
- Must be able to lift carry stand walk on uneven surfaces manually manipulate grasp reach climb kneel bend twist and push/pull.
Environmental Conditions:
- Work is performed outdoors in varying environmental and weather conditions.
- Requires extended periods of strenuous physical activity under field conditions.
- Works on and around railroad tracks equipment and uneven terrain.
- May be required to work in confined spaces.
