Job Summary

Position Summary

Without supervision level two tool machinists create tooling of all levels of complexity either to print or from scratch demonstrating advanced competencies in machine setup shop math print reading materials properties and tool geometries. As well as advanced competencies working with complex measuring tools to perform mechanical inspection processes. Level two tooling machinists will also assist and train lower-level operators as well as support the shop to produce one off component as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design manufacture modify and repair tooling of all levels of complexity from engineering drawings or conceptual requirements.
  • Independently set up and operate CNC and manual machining equipment.
  • Interpret complex prints specifications and engineering documentation.
  • Perform advanced machining operations while maintaining tight tolerances and quality standards.
  • Utilize advanced measuring and inspection equipment to validate dimensional and functional requirements.
  • Troubleshoot tooling manufacturing and machining issues to determine effective solutions.
  • Produce prototype and one-off components to support production and engineering needs.
  • Assist in developing tooling processes machining strategies and shop best practices.
  • Train mentor and provide technical guidance to lower-level operators and machinists.
  • Collaborate with engineering quality and production teams to support operational objectives.
  • Promote workplace safety quality standards and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma GED or equivalent technical training.
  • 6 years of toolmaking machining or related manufacturing experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in CNC and manual machining operations and machine setup.
  • Strong understanding of material properties tooling design and machining methodologies.
  • Advanced blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) skills.
  • Experience using complex precision measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and solve complex manufacturing challenges.
  • Strong leadership training and mentoring capabilities.

2nd Shift: 2:15PM - 10:45 PM

Preferred Qualifications
  • Journeyman Toolmaker certification or completion of a recognized apprenticeship.
  • Experience producing tooling from concept through completion.
  • Advanced knowledge of quality systems lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
