Job Summary
- Manufacture custom fixtures and tools to support manufacturing operations throughout the facility.
- Partner with engineering teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives in machining processes.
- Lead workplace organization and standardization activities within the machine shop.
- Collaborate with engineering to develop and enhance training programs for new machinists.
- Support programmers and machine operators during machining prove-outs and process validations.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements using objective measurable data and performance metrics.
- Research evaluate and implement new tooling technologies to improve quality efficiency and productivity.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for machining equipment and related operations.
- Track and report cost savings generated through machining and tooling improvements.
You continually seek ways to improve processes systems and outcomes while balancing immediate priorities with long-term operational goals. You build collaborative relationships across teams and work effectively with others to achieve shared objectives. You use data experience and sound judgment to make timely decisions and solve complex problems. You communicate clearly and effectively adapting your approach to meet the needs of different audiences while fostering a culture of learning accountability and continuous improvement.
- Experience in production CNC machining preferably in a high-mix low-volume manufacturing environment.
- Experience designing fabricating or machining custom fixtures and tooling for manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge of CNC equipment tooling and machine controllers including mills lathes Fanuc MAPPS IV Haas or similar technologies.
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
- Strong communication analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general computer systems.
- Advanced experience in production CNC machining environments.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software and manufacturing design tools.
- Knowledge of industrial IT networking or machine connectivity systems.
- Experience creating standardized work instructions training materials or process documentation in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated success implementing tooling machining or productivity improvements that deliver measurable business results.
