What you can expect to work on
This position will work with various types of metals with various thickness: stainless steel copper carbon steel and aluminum. This position is also conducting fabrication involving laying out cutting fitting measuring and welding metals to create the desired shape or object.
  • Set up welding machines based on the job at hand or using a welding procedure specification
  • Read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements
  • Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards
  • TIG weld steel aluminum copper and stainless steel components
  • Follow create and help maintain welding procedure specifications
  • Operate machinery such as forklifts and cranes
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Keep work areas clean and organized and take proper care of all equipment and facilities
  • Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency
  • Uphold all ISO and OSHA standards
What you need to succeed
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Basic computer skills
  • Basic math skills including addition subtraction multiplication division fractions and decimals
  • Ability to perform simple shop math convert decimals to factional equivalents and fractions to decimal equivalents
  • 5 years of TIG welding experience
  • Basic familiarity with MIG TIG or Stick welding
  • Experience with steel aluminum titanium copper and stainless steel
  • Experience with breaks shears drill press manual lathe and manual Bridgeports highly preferred
  • Ability to read simple blueprints and follow work instructions
  • Basic OSHA safety training

Great to have
  • Associates degree/technical school
  • 8 years of TIG welding experience
  • Proficiency with MIG TIG or Stick welding
  • Experience with steel aluminum titanium copper and stainless steel
  • Experience with breaks shears drill press manual lathe and manual Bridgeports highly preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints drawings calipers tape measures and angle gauges
  • Knowledge of raw materials quality control costs and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Completion of a welding certificate program or vocational training
Other things to note
  • Full-time position
  • The companys standard operating hours are Monday thru Friday 6:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m. with production related activities requiring 24/7/365 shifts
  • This position will have regular working hours Monday - Friday within the standard operating hours
  • There is an expectation of adjusting working hours outside the standard hours to meet operational requirements as needed
  • Niowave has multiple locations within the Lansing area and travel between locations is expected in the role
