About the Teen & Family Wellness Center

The Caminar Teen & Family Wellness Center in Palo Alto provides accessible youth-centered mental health services designed specifically for adolescents and their families. The Center serves teens ages1219 and provides a safe welcoming environment where young people can feel heard supported in their mental health and identity and empowered to grow.

Services are designed around each teens individual needs and may include individual therapy family counseling comprehensive assessment and treatment planning and group therapy. Care may be provided in person through telehealth or through a hybrid model with flexible scheduling that includes late-afternoon and evening appointments to accommodate school and family schedules.

Position Summary: The Mental Health Clinician provides individual and family mental health services to adolescents ages 1217 at the Teen & Family Wellness Center. Under the supervision of the Clinical Program Manager the Clinician will provide assessment diagnosis treatment planning individual therapy family therapy crisis intervention and coordination of care.

The Clinician will use ayouth-centeredstrengths-based culturally responsive and trauma-informed approach partnering with teens and their families to develop treatment goals that reflect the young persons voice values strengths and needs.

This position is ideal for a clinician who enjoys working with adolescents and families and is passionate about creating an accessible affirming and engaging mental health environment for young people.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide individualgroupand family therapy to adolescents ages 1217 experiencing a range of mental health and emotional concerns.

• Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and clinical evaluations.

• Develop collaborative treatment plans with teens that reflect their goals strengths values andidentifiedneeds.

• Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventionsappropriate toadolescents and families.

• Provide family counseling and support focused on healthy communication trust boundaries and strengthening family relationships.

• Provide crisis intervention and respond appropriately to changes in a clients mental health or level of risk.

• Assess client needs andfacilitateappropriate transitionsto higher or lower levels of care when clinicallyindicated.

• Address a range of adolescent mental health concerns which may include anxiety depression trauma identity development family conflict interpersonal boundaries bullying victimization aggression and body-image concerns.

• Engage teens in treatment using developmentallyappropriate communicationand therapeutic techniques.

• Partner with parents and caregivers withappropriate considerationof the teens consent confidentiality and clinical needs.

• Collaborate with other Caminar staff and community providers to coordinate care and support continuity of services.

• Refer teens and families to community resources and supportive services asappropriate.

• Participate in clinical consultation individual supervision team meetings and program meetings.

• Maintaintimelyaccurate and thorough clinical documentationin accordance withapplicable requirements and Caminar standards.

• Provide services through in-person telehealth and/or hybrid modalities asappropriate.

• Maintain flexibility to provide services during late-afternoon and evening hours to accommodate school and family schedules.

• Participate in the development and delivery of group therapy programming as the Teen & Family Wellness Center expands its services.

• Other duties may be assigned.

• Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy Social Work Clinical Psychology ora relatedclinical field.

• California BBS registered BBS licensure as LMFT LCSW or LPCC.

• Experience providing therapy to children adolescents and/or families strongly preferred.

• Experience working with adolescents ages 1217 preferred.

• Strong clinical assessment treatment planning and therapeutic skills.

• Knowledge of evidence-based approaches for adolescent mental health.

• Experience with trauma-informed andstrengths-based care preferred.

• Ability to build trusting therapeutic relationships with teens and engage families appropriately in treatment.

• Strong understanding of adolescent development and the social emotional and mental health challenges facing youth.

• Ability to work effectively with individuals and families from diverse cultural socioeconomic and personal backgrounds.

• Culturallyresponsive and affirming approach to working with youth and families.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to complete clinical documentation and communicate effectively with clients families and professionals.

• Ability to use standard office and clinical software and develop competency in specialized clinical systems as needed.

• Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Physical:Occasionally required to push/pull objects up to 50 lbs. and to lift/carry objects up to 25 lbs. Frequentlyrequiredto perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing writing etc. Must be able to walk stand and sit for extended periods.

• Sensory: Frequently required to read documents written reports and plans. Must be able to distinguish normal sounds with some background noise as in answering the phone interacting with residents and staff etc. Must be able to speak clearly and understand/be understood using the English language.

• Cognitive:Frequently required to concentrate on moderate detail with constant interruption. Must be able to attend a task/function for 20-45 minutes at a time. Frequently required to understand and relate to specific ideas several at a time. Must be able to remember multiple tasks/assignments given to self and others over a period of several days.

• Environmental Conditions:Frequent exposure to varied office and mixed (residential/office) environments. Occasional exposure to toxins and poisonous substances dust and loud noises.

• Equipment:Frequently required to use a computer phone and fax machine.

• Must be able to meet and receivea criminalrecords clearance as required by Title XXII other licensing regulations and Caminar practices.

• This position may require limited occasional or frequent driving. If required a valid California drivers license a reliable personal vehicle and current personal auto insuranceisrequired by addition an MVR sufficient to obtain andmaintaininsurability under agency auto liability policies are all essentialjobrequirements.

• Must be able to passpost offer pre-employment medical and drug tests as required under State Community Care Licensing regulations and/or agency policies.
