Main Purpose of Job
Under the supervision of a CTRS the main purpose of this intern position will be to learn to assess plan implement and evaluate Therapeutic Recreation programs for psychiatric inpatients and/or assisting living residents function as a member of the treatment team and maintain patient records. This position will also prepare for the profession of therapeutic recreation and NCTRC position must have the ability to work with individuals with mental health disorders must be able to make decisions in high-pressure situations and must exercise confidentiality regarding patient medical information. This position must be able to work day evening or rotating shifts to include holidays and weekends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:Two years of experience assisting in the implementationof prescribed activity therapy programs under the supervision of a healthcareprofessional to include assisting in patient/client assessments for mentallyill aged physically ill or physically disabled patients or developmentallydisabled clients.

1.Candidates may substitutethe completion of 60 credit hours from anaccredited college oruniversity with at least 15 credit hours inhealth services humanservices education or the behavioral sciencesfor the requiredexperience.

may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military serviceexperience asa non-commissioned officer in Therapyclassifications or Therapyspecialty codes in the TherapeuticRecreation field of work on ayear-for-year basis for the requiredexperience.
LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.

2. Employees in some positions in this classification may be required to operate vehicles which require a Class C motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.

3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation training.

4. Employees in this classification at facilities with a swimming pool may be required to obtain Red Cross instruction and certification in Life Saving and Water Safety prior to appointment.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and therefore will be required to provide the facility with a telephone number where they can be reached.

BENEFITS

Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage accidental death and dismemberment insurance and life insurance but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

Leave may be granted to a contractual employee at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
