Job Summary
Were excited to add a PRN Inpatient Pediatric Recreation Therapy Assistantto our team! In this role youll support child development through fun meaningful one-on-one and group activities within our inpatient programs. From helping kids experience special moments likeprom trick-or-treating graduation and talent showsto joining them oncommunity outingslike fishing trips park adventures and even visits to theIowa State Fairyoull help create memories that last a lifetime.
Schedule
- Can offer 25-30 hours/week this summer
- Monday- Friday daytime hours weekend and evening outings optional
What Youll Do
- Care:Implement developmentally appropriate individual and group activities according to the care plans recreational therapist and Child Life Specialist. Provide positive and developmentally appropriate interaction treating all children/young adults with dignity and respect. Assist with planning and implementing special events holidays birthday and outings.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records according to ChildServe policy.
- Communication:Communicate with all children/young adults team members and families in a courteous and professional manner. Communicate with Recreational Therapist and Child Life Specialist closely regarding activities provided.
- Collaboratewith the interdisciplinary team regarding the child/young adults activities and schedule in order to provide the optimal level of support.
- Environment: Provide and maintain a therapeutic environment for care and treatment. Clean toys equipment and play areas according to infection control procedures. Reports environmental problems to appropriate staff.
What Youll Need
- Preferred: One year of college education in early childhood or child development.
- Preferred: Associates in one of these areas.
- Preferred: Minimum of one year of experience serving children or adults with disabilities.
- Lift up to 35lbs be mobile within the clinic areas and frequently bend lift reach and stand.
- Ability to communicate in English effectively for understanding in writing and verbally.
