MinneapolisSaint Paul International Airport (MSP) is a major hub with nonstop flights to 160 destinations. The airport is conveniently located just 15 minutes from the medical center with light rail service connecting the airport to downtown and beyond.

The Minneapolis VA Health Care System (MVAHCS) is located at One Veterans Drive Minneapolis MN 55417. MVAHCS is a leading VA medical center providing comprehensive care to Veterans across Minnesota and the upper Midwest. The Radiation Oncology Service is accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting body and operates state-of-the-art equipment including Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators RayStation treatment planning and ARIA record & verify systems.

• Support the Chief Physicist in all medical physics and dosimetry activities


• Design optimize and technically evaluate radiation treatment plans


• Ensure precise and accurate radiation dose delivery


• Maintain radiation protection standards for patients and staff


• Perform daily monthly and annual QA procedures


• Provide consultation to Radiation Oncologists and guidance to technical staff


• Assist with complicated simulations and treatment setups


• Contribute to accreditation and compliance with ACR ASTRO and AAPM standards

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Medical Physics or related field


• Board Certified (or board-eligible with 5 years experience or CAMPEP graduate) by ABR ABMP or CCPM


• Minimum 2 years continuous experience within the last 3 years


• 2 years performing QA procedures


• 1 year experience with Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators (TG-142)


• 1 year experience with IGRT including Cone Beam CT


• 1 year experience with RayStation TPS and ARIA R&V (2D/3D Conformal SRS SRT SBRT IMRT/VMAT)


• 1 year IMRT QA experience (MapCheck I/II or equivalent)


• 1 year CT Simulator experience (TG-66)


• Experience with superficial X-ray machines

• Full-time Monday Friday


• Regular hours: 8:30 AM 5:00 PM


• Some after-hours work for calibrations and measurements


• Federal holidays off
