The Department of Media Production Management and Technology (MPMT) at the University of Florida invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position (who currently has tenure) starting August 2027. We seek an energetic scholar with an active research program centered on any aspect of media and technology.

We welcome candidates from a broad range of methodological traditions and theoretical perspectives. While the research program is open to any domain within media and technology the candidate must be prepared to teach RTV 3432: Ethics and Problems in Media a core course serving undergraduate majors in both Digital Film and Video Production and Media Management and Technology.

Research & Teaching Responsibilities

• Conduct original research that advances scholarly understanding of media and/or technology including but not limited to:
  • media infrastructure
  • technology practices
  • sports media and communication
  • media systems
  • platform studies
  • entertainment media
  • digital culture and strategy
  • social/mobile media
  • science and technology studies
• Teach undergraduate core courses specifically RTV 3432: Ethics and Problems in Media bridging ethical regulatory and societal issues across both creative production and strategic media management contexts and other courses in the department with opportunities to develop specialized upper-level electives and graduate seminars.
• Pursue internal and external research funding.
• Publish in leading academic venues.
• Mentor students and contribute to departmental college and university service.

Minimum Qualifications

• A terminal degree (Ph.D. J.D. or equivalent) in media communication or a related social science or humanities discipline by August 2027.
• Demonstrated experience for national and international scholarly impact. (Assistant level)
• Established record of national and international scholarly impact. (Associate level)
• Demonstrated success in research funding.
• Evidence of excellence in university teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to engage students across both creative production and media management specializations in ethical and critical decision-making.
• Commitment to supporting a collaborative academic culture where all faculty staff and students can thrive.
• Preference will be given to candidates whose research professional experience and teaching demonstrate the ability to bridge the departments two tracks: (1) Digital Film and Video Production and (2) Media Management and Technology.
