GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is dedicated to providing a safe efficient and reliable transportation system that connects communities and supports Wyomings economy. WYDOT is currently seeking a Traffic Electrical Technician to join the District 3 team in Rock Springs Wyoming.

In this hands-on role you will play a vital part in maintaining and improving Wyomings transportation infrastructure. Responsibilities include assisting with highway electrical systems traffic signal maintenance roadway lighting electronic message signs and the installation troubleshooting and repair of traffic control devices. You will help ensure that motorists can travel safely by maintaining critical transportation systems throughout the district.

This position offers the opportunity to work both independently and as part of a skilled team while gaining experience with advanced transportation technologies and electrical systems. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed at the job level.

  • Assist traffic crews with general maintenance operations.
  • Maintain and operate complex equipment safely and proficiently.
  • Under limited supervision may flag traffic and set up traffic control devices.
  • Subject to a 24-hour call-out in the event of an emergency.
  • May be reassigned to other crews as necessary.

Qualifications


PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:


These are temporary positions that require no prior training or experience.

**Must have a valid Drivers license.


KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of and use of power tools and tape measures.
  • Knowledge of Federal and State requirements for the proper use of personal protective equipment.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Necessary Special Requirements


PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to travel extensively within the district.
  • Subject to 24-hour call-out in the event of an emergency.

  • FLSA: Non-Exempt
  • Individuals in this classification will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing
  • This is a temporary full-time position
