The Telecommunications Operator provides efficient and courteous handling of telecommunications services in the hospital including answering calls maintaining and operating switchboard equipment and dispensing patient information. Provides paging/beeper services and serves as back-up for Info Desk Receptionist.
Handles calls received through main line console.
Alerts appropriate personnel and departments in an emergency situation.
Ensures that telephone switchboard equipment functions properly.
Makes announcements and pages using paging/beeper systems.

Provides telecommunication support services to hospital departments.
Provides backup for Info Desk Receptionist.
Preserves and protects patient and employee rights to confidentiality.
Performs other telecommunication services as requested.
High school graduate or equivalent. Experience working with telephone switchboard equipment desirable. Must possess a good memory a clear well-modulated voice strong interpersonal skills and be fluent in the English language. Must be able to perform job duties in a noisy area with frequent interruptions.
