Job Summary

The Technology Support Coordinator supports the technology and simulation needs of the Physician Assistant (PA) Studies Program at the downtown instructional site. The Coordinator serves as the primary technology and simulation resource for the program by supporting instructional technologies simulation-based education educational software classroom technologies standardized patient activities and technology initiatives that enhance student learning and program effectiveness.

Responsibilities include providing intermediate technical hardware and software support through the set-up testing installation maintenance troubleshooting and repair of departmental physical and virtual endpoint systems supported by Information Technology and Analytics. The Coordinator also manages technology-related activities within the Clinical Learning Center (CLC) including programming simulation scenarios maintaining patient simulators and simulation equipment coordinating audiovisual systems and supporting faculty staff learners and standardized patients during simulation-based educational activities.

The Coordinator reports to the PA Program Director and collaborates closely with Information Technology and Analytics faculty staff and other academic programs on technology and simulation initiatives. This is a two-year position with the possibility of extension.

Essential Duties

  • Maintain current knowledge of the computer systems endpoint devices (physical and virtual workstations laptops and mobile devices) software applications audiovisual technologies networks and computing environments supported by Ithaca College Information Technology and Analytics.
  • Coordinate with Information Technology and Analytics regarding office classroom audiovisual and instructional technology needs while monitoring emerging technologies to ensure the program utilizes current and effective educational technologies.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and provide Tier I technical support for classroom audiovisual systems instructional technology simulation equipment and control room technology. Escalate monitor and document unresolved issues as appropriate.
  • Support all Clinical Learning Center (CLC) technology including high-fidelity patient simulators task trainers audiovisual recording systems simulation control systems and related instructional technologies.
  • Program and test simulation scenarios for instructional activities Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) competency assessments and other simulation-based learning experiences.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance software updates equipment calibration vendor communication repairs and warranty services for simulation equipment and instructional technology.
  • Provide technical support for program-specific educational software assessment platforms clinical education management systems simulation software and other instructional technologies utilized by the program.
  • Coordinate technology requirements for electronic examinations and assessment activities including system setup deployment troubleshooting and post-examination support.
  • Support standardized patient activities by coordinating simulation technology audiovisual recording systems operational logistics and technical support during educational sessions.
  • Coordinate and provide technology training for faculty and staff on classroom technology simulation equipment educational software audiovisual systems and other program-supported technologies.
  • Develop maintain and update written standard operating procedures (SOPs) user guides and technology documentation for simulation equipment classroom technology and instructional technology resources.
  • Maintain inventory records for all departmental technology simulation equipment software licenses warranties supplies and replacement schedules.
  • Assist with maintaining technology-related databases user accounts equipment records and digital file organization in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Assist the PA Program with maintaining technology and simulation resources that support compliance with ARC-PA accreditation standards assessment activities and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technology support for admissions activities orientation White Coat Ceremony simulation exercises skills laboratories special events and other program-sponsored educational activities as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies regarding software licensing data security FERPA requirements equipment security and appropriate technology use.
  • Demonstrate civil professional and inclusive behavior when interacting with faculty staff learners standardized patients visitors and community partners.
  • Promote a collaborative flexible and inclusive work environment by participating in professional development activities that enhance awareness of diversity equity inclusion and belonging.
  • Perform other College and Program duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Educational Technology Healthcare Simulation Biomedical Engineering Health Sciences or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in information technology healthcare simulation educational technology or a closely related field.
  • Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving abilities with demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex technical issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting established deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word Excel Outlook and Teams.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment and instructional technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting healthcare education or health professions programs.
  • Experience with simulation technologies (e.g. Laerdal Gaumard CAE SimCapture LearningSpace or similar platforms).
  • Experience supporting audiovisual systems and classroom technologies.
  • Experience supporting electronic testing and assessment platforms.
  • Experience maintaining simulation equipment and coordinating vendor-supported maintenance.

Work Environment

The work location is the Physician Assistant Program located in the Rothschild Building on the downtown Ithaca Commons. Parking is not provided; however the location is accessible via the TCAT bus system.

Work is performed primarily in an accessible indoor educational environment using computers audiovisual equipment simulation technologies and standard office equipment. The incumbent may occasionally be required to transport equipment or materials between campus locations or participate in off-campus educational activities. Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required to support instructional activities simulation events admissions events or other program needs.

This is a full-time temporary two-year position (37.5 hours per week 52 weeks per year) with the possibility of extension.

Hiring Range:

$27.00 - $29.00 per hour commensurate with qualifications and experience.
