We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled 1070 Technology Product Director to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing implementing maintaining and enhancing complex enterprise-level systems and networks. This role requires deep technical expertise and the ability to work independently on critical infrastructure projects that support our organizational IT backbone.
As the 1070 Director of Business Applications Support Innovate & Collaborate (BASIC) reporting to the Executive Director of Applications within the Department of Technology (DoT) you will lead a multidisciplinary team of software engineers and business this role you will provide hands-on technical leadership in the management design development configuration and administration of key Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Human Capital Management (HCM) components within SFUSDs complex large-scale Frontline & Red Rover platform. Your work will support critical district-wide business functions ensuring that systems remain secure reliable and accessiblemeeting the diverse needs of the SFUSD community and aligning with our organizational service standards.
We are looking for a team leader who will serve as the guiding force for the projects goals and help propel us into the future. The ideal candidate will be creative resourceful and have sound judgement in analyzing and resolving complex issues but most importantly will have an eagerness to learn new business practices and structures and embrace large and complex projects with increasing responsibilities.
Essential Duties
The duties specified below are representative of the range of duties assigned to the job code/class and are not intended to be an inclusive or exhaustive list.
As the Technology Product Director duties are specified below:
- Organize direct supervise and provide strategic direction for the work of subordinate professional and technical staff responsible for enterprise applications technology products system development integration administration and operational support.
- Lead the development and implementation of goals objectives policies priorities governance frameworks and strategic initiatives for ERP and HCM-related technology products services programs and projects. Establish priorities based on organizational needs system dependencies risk resource availability and user requirements.
- Develop and maintain technology product roadmaps and multi-year strategies for assigned enterprise applications and services aligning product priorities enhancements integrations and lifecycle decisions with organizational goals and user needs.
- Lead major cross-functional technology initiatives involving enterprise applications system integrations business process improvements and technology modernization; coordinate requirements resources schedules dependencies and implementation activities across multiple departments technical teams vendors and stakeholder groups.
- Ensure timely and efficient completion of activities consistent with applicable policies procedures and regulatory guidelines.
- Represent the department in meetings presentations and interdepartmental collaborations.
- Coordinate design and schedule internal and external training programs for staff and system users.
- Develop and present strategic plans for Information Systems products and services aligned with long-term organizational goals.
- Direct the design development enhancement integration implementation maintenance and continuous improvement of enterprise digital products and services ensuring solutions are aligned with business requirements technical standards security requirements regulatory obligations and user needs.
- Supervise and review system production performance service delivery and user satisfaction metrics to ensure quality and reliability.
- Monitor analyze and resolve user and operational issues
- Coordinate external consultants in supporting the design research development implementation and enhancement of digital products and services.
- May prepare specifications and purchase orders; manage vendor accounts; recommend consulting services as needed; and establish maintenance contracts for equipment and technology services.
- Evaluate and recommend department digital products and services.
- Direct and coordinate end-to-end system integration activities involving enterprise applications data exchanges interfaces reporting platforms and related technology services; evaluate dependencies and risks and establish implementation strategies to ensure reliable interoperability across interconnected systems.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of: Project management and information systems development and maintenance; principles and practices of digital product management and service delivery technical operational and programming problem solving analysis; computer languages; systems design and software development lifecycle concepts; user-centered and data-informed approaches to product or system improvement: common operating systems and relational database systems; interactive or macro-based applications; agile and iterative methodologies; practices and techniques of supervision; training techniques; job flow within a large scale data processing environment; and data processing methods; budgeting procurement resource management and vendor coordination; and change management and communication strategies for introducing new systems or service models.
Ability or Skill to: Supervise and direct a group of technical employees including the ability to provide counseling guidance and mediation; persuade convince and train others; advise and interpret regarding the application of policies procedures and standards to specific situations; exercise judgement decisiveness and creativity required in situations involving the direction control and planning of projects programs and products; modify existing policies strategies and/or methods to meet unusual conditions within the context of existing management principles; communicate effectively orally and in writing; establish and maintain good working relationships with department personnel staff vendors and peers; use logic and analysis to solve problems; produce complex reports and presentations; prioritize competing requests for service in a dynamic multi-stakeholder environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: An associate degree in computer science information systems business administration UX/UI design or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units i.e. at least sixty (60) semester or ninety (90) quarter credits/units with a minimum of twenty (20) semester or thirty (30) quarter credits/units in one of the fields above or a closely-related field.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in digital product management system administration information systems development maintenance and support software engineering or information technology project management including two (2) years of experience leading a major technology product system or project involving cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders.
Substitution: One year of additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree.
