Job Summary

Hourly$38.06 - $57.09Responsible for performing and evaluating laboratory tests establish and modify laboratory procedures evaluating laboratory data for quality and accuracy and for performing related tasks for diagnostic testing including but not limited to inventory specimen collection quality control quality assurance training proficiency testing reagent/instrument preparation problem solving instrument maintenance and troubleshooting. Provide oversight to work of the MLT employees.

Qualifications:
Medical Technologist:
Bachelors degree in Medical Technology Chemistry or the Biological Sciences required. If applicable evidence of foreign degree equivalency required.
A minimum of one year experience in a hospital-based lab is preferred either as a generalist or specialist depending on the position opening.
Prefer experience with laboratory information system including automated interfaced instruments. Good customer service skills. Good technical and mechanical trouble-shooting skills.
Professional Licensure/Certification/Registration: One of the following certifications is required:
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP)-Medical Technologist (MT)
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) -Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
National Certification Agency (NCA) Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)
Medical Laboratory Technologist CSMLS Canada
American Medical Technologists (AMT) Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
OR a single certification such as hematology (H(ASCP)) chemistry (C(ASCP)) microbiology (M(ASCP)) or molecular biology (MB(ASCP)).
Medical Lab Technician:
Requires Associate degree from a community college in Medical Laboratory Science. 90 quarter hours/60 semester hours credit military training program in Medical Laboratory Science also acceptable. NAACS accredited MLT program preferred. Bachelors degree preferred.
One year of experience in a hospital-based lab preferred. Laboratory generalist preferred.
Professional Licensure/Certification/Registration: One of the following certifications is required within six months of hire date:
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) - Medical Laboratory Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist
American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) Medical Laboratory Technician/ Clinical Laboratory Technician
American Association of Bioanalysts with Bachelor Degree in science and MLT certification
National Certification Agency (NCA) - Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT)
