The Pest Control Technician use a multi-tactical approach to prevent pest problems and incorporate interacted pest management procedures into the maintenance program conducted by our District for control of indoor and outdoor pest problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
High School graduate or GED
Valid Texas drivers license
Valid certification as a commercial or non-commercial applicator granted by the Texas Structural Pest Control Board (TSPCB) with following categories: Lawn and Ornamental Weeds Termites Pest Control Inside
3 yrs job related experience
Must be able to communicate effectively in English
Preferred:
Five years as a certified applicator
SPECIAL NOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Knowledge of methods and materials for pest control and TSPCB regulations
Effective written and verbal communications skills
Ability to operate pesticide application equipment
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Duties:
Oversee day-to-day pest management needs of the District.
Provide written approval/justifications for use of products on the yellow list.
Ensure that proper pesticide application records are maintained.
Participate in IPM training courses approved for school IPM personnel by the SPCB.
Consult with the IPM Coordinator concerning use of products not on Green or Yellow List.
Authorize emergency treatments as provided for by the SPCB guidelines.
Adhere to all industry and District safety policies and procedures.
Respond to work orders issued for interior pest control and participates in the application of pesticides for pest/insect control
Prepares and maintains documentation in relation to State of Texas Structural Pest Control Board standards and insures compliance to those codes in performance of all assigned work task
Responds to emergency call outs as needed
Drive District vehicle to perform assigned duties. Keep vehicle neat and clean.
Perform project work and special assignments as assigned
Work Environment:
Required to use chemicals daily
Noise levels are normal
Some outside work
Work inside without air conditioning
Personal Protective Equipment:
Chemical resistant gloves goggles face shield bump hat respirator and back support belt
Required Training:
1st day orientation Hazardous Communications/M.S.D.S./Fire Safety/Proper Lifting Techniques/Eye Safety
Two-Hour Asbestos Awareness
WORKING CONDITIONS:
The usual and customary methods of performing this job require the following: frequent walking twisting reaching bending climbing kneeling moderate lifting carrying and crawling in tight spaces. Work outside and inside on slippery or uneven walking surfaces. Work alone as well as with other team members. Environmental Conditions: Exposure to dampness and humidity toxic chemicals and noxious odors. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours overtime is required as necessary.
