Summary of the Position
Best Equipment is seeking a skilled technician to perform repair and maintenance on municipal and contractor environmental equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. Estimated 50% travel will be required for work at customers sites to support the Best Equipment Fleet Support Program. Hours: This position is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM EST and consists of four 10-hour shifts per week Monday through Thursday.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostics & Repairs: Troubleshoot diagnose and repair complex mechanical electrical hydraulic and diesel engine failures on various types of heavy equipment.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks including oil changes fluid checks filter replacements and safety inspections ensuring all equipment meets regulatory standards.
- Welding & Fabrication: Perform welding and fabrication tasks as needed to repair buckets blades or structural components.
- Documentation: Accurately document all repairs parts used and labor hours in our digital maintenance tracking system before the end of the shift.
- Shop Safety: Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment. Adhere to all OSHA EPA and company safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to work independently and solve problems effectively
- Experience with heavy equipment repair welding and fabrication preferred
- Knowledge of pneumatic hydraulic and 12-volt electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics and electrical diagrams
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
To be successful in this role you may need to lift up to 50 pounds stand walk bend stoop kneel crouch crawl and climb ladders or equipment. Vision and hearing must be sufficient to identify equipment issues and ensure safety. The position involves exposure to loud noise odors dust heat cold and vibration. You may have to tolerate temperature fluctuations and work in various weather conditions.
