Job Summary

This Technical Writer position supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in the area of Support Services. The mission-critical program provides comprehensive training safety standards curriculum development and technical modernization services to ensure national border security agents can operate safely and effectively.

Complex tactical systems and safety procedures are useless if they cannot be easily this role you turn dense technical engineering language into clear user-friendly handbooks standard operating procedures and training guides that keep teams safe and compliant.

  • Status: Full-Time / Contingent Upon Contract Award

You are a master of absolute clarity. You have the unique ability to take dense technical and complex operational procedures and translate them into clean user-friendly and accessible handbooks. You are meticulous about grammar formatting and stylistic consistency and you love collaborating with Subject Matter Experts to capture their technical knowledge accurately.

What Youll Do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Draft Technical Documentation: Research write and format detailed operational guides user manuals and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Support Curriculum Development: Edit proofread and storyboard CBT training scripts lesson guides and study manuals.

  • Enforce Style Standards:Maintainand distribute templates and style guides ensuring complete compliance with CBP writing directives.

  • Manage Repositories:Maintainhighly structured documentation repositories ensuring rigorous version control and accessibility.

What You Bring (Qualifications)

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in technical writing editing or a closely related role.

  • Education:Bachelors degree in Professional Writing English Communications Journalism or a related field.

  • Tools: Highproficiencywith MS Office (Word PowerPoint) Adobe Acrobat and modern Content Management Systems (CMS).

  • Clearance: Ability to obtain andmaintaina federal background suitability check.
